On March 5, 2005, two ZPMC cranes aboard the Zhen Hua I vessel passed under the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge to journey to their new home, Port of Oakland’s recently strengthened Berth 32.
Bridge clearance is a design issue for all cranes traveling to the Port of Oakland. However, unlike previous cranes, these new Suezmax A-frame cranes were designed with an apex structure that could be lowered to clear obstacles such as the Bridges.
Liftech employees took the preceding and following photos to commemorate the last segment of the cranes’ one-month voyage on the seas.
Liftech performed the structural review of the cranes and the modification of Berth 32.
