The San Francisco Fireboat Station 35 project was the selected winner of the ASCE-COPRI 2023 Project Excellence Award Competition in the Small Project Category.
This project involved the design and fabrication of a floating fire station moored in San Francisco. Liftech was the lead marine design consultant for this design-build project and designed a steel pier next to The Embarcadero; a steel access ramp between the pier and steel float; a steel float and associated items, such as fender supports and pile collars; and the piling to support the pier and moor the float.
Fireboats and jet skis moor along the float so the firefighters can quickly respond to emergencies. Since firefighters spend significant amounts of time on the float, including eating and sleeping, the float is designed to limit motions.
We thank ASCE-COPRI for selecting our project. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this exciting project and enjoyed collaborating with our design-build partners, Power Engineering Construction Company, Swinerton, Shah Kawasaki Architects, Pannu Larsen, and ZPMC, and the project owner, the San Francisco Department of Public Works. Credit goes to everyone who contributed to the success of this project.
