Liftech has close ties to the community and a strong commitment to supporting local programs. Our staff is encouraged to participate in local non-profit museums, the local zoo, and performing arts organizations, with an annual benefit allowance for membership dues.
We participate in The New School’s Kids to Work Day, whereby a group of students spend the better part of a day at our offices learning what structural engineers do. We plan various engineering activities; take the students on field trips to local machine shops, construction sites, or the Port of Oakland; and bring them back to write reports documenting their day at work.
We have contributed to the Oakland Symphony’s MUSE program and the Oakland Youth Orchestra because we believe that participating in the arts fosters cognitive development and analytical skills and provides a sense of self and place in the community.
We contribute to scholarship funds sponsored by professional organizations; contribute to and participate in the Port of Oakland’s annual golf tournament, which benefits their employee scholarship fund; hire high school and college interns; and donate to local community groups, such as shelters and food banks.
We also add value by providing professional services to the city’s Port and business enterprises, and share our knowledge and expertise with the business community by presenting at local conferences.
